Botanical Mandalas

The ‘Botanical Mandala’ paintings are a celebration of our living, breathing, growing natural surroundings.

The collection shows Lucy’s expression of gratitude for the wonderful diversity of plants that the different seasons bring to us on our doorsteps. All of the plants that you can see in the paintings are edible, as well as displaying a beautiful array of patterns and forms, all values which the artist wishes to shine a light on.

After recently moving to Cornwall, Lucy has been inspired by the new web of life and colour that adorns the hedgerows and beaches of this rural and coastal county.

Lucy’s painting style was refined after spending time in India. She will never forget the mandalas* being drawn in chalk on the dusty roads in the morning as an expression of welcome into people’s homes. Lucy’s collection of autumnal mandalas invite the viewer to be welcomed into this beautiful season in Cornwall.

*Mandala literally translates from sanskrit to mean ‘circle’ and is a representation of the cyclical nature of our universe. Mandalas are complex abstract designs used in many cultures for healing, communication, or meditation.
